i just got my shortblock with an edelbrock waterpump and im putting everything together.

im down to connecting the cooling lines, ect on the stand. there are 2 lines from the waterpump on my old shortblock with stock waterpump. one from the thermostat and the other to the intake piece.

the one that normally leads to the intake line is blocked off. no stem for a hose, just a threaded insert. is this normal?

as i said i just got it and dont have any directions, im assuming it should still have both lines right?

If theres a threaded insert you can get the piece in a parts store. They sell them in the Help section in the red packages. Just threads in with the 5/8 hose fitting.

thanks, yeah i thought of that. the only thing that came to mind was the threaded piece is smaller in diameter then the stock waterpump inlet.

will that smaller diameter affect the performance of the pump? i will go buy a fitting, after i fix that its time to drop in the new engine

I'm not sure if that would affect performance or not. I can't imagine it would or they wouldn't have made it that way. Do you have a picture of the pump in questioin?

Not sure what you're missing. On mine, there were two barbed, threaded fittings that came with it. Those two fittings screwed into the threaded openings in the pump. I used ARP moly lube/thread sealer on the threads (their tapered) and screwed them in good and snug. One connects to one of the metal pipes for the heater hose (the lower one on the pump - hard to get to as it's sort of under the alternator bracket). The other connects to the little 90 degree bypass hose right next to the main t'stat outlet hose.
