I am collecting parts to complete a EFI swap on my 65 fastback and would like to know what others experienced during the swap and what pitfalls to avoid etc...

The hardest part of the EFI conversion, was the harness. The rest is very straight foreward wrench bending. An Exploder(Explorer) 5.0 utilizing ECC-IV would be my choice. Convet to front sump, relocate dipstick. the 5.0serpentine works fine, research "Short Belt". Serpentine WP is reverse flow, good time to utilize an aluminum radiator.
There are many here who will point you to Ron Morris, who to me is way overpriced. Insted I reccommend, http://fordfuelinjection.com/ & Ryan McCormmack (Fireguy 5.0) Study the whole site, in particular concerning the harness, the Fuel Injection Harness Power circuit depicted there. If you are DIY definately use that example. A more simple way would be, to just order a harness from them, and use it in confidence.
I wanted to get a base line of the performance difference, between my old 302(mild built, DOOE heads, 4BBl, etc.) and the new EFI. If you arent really interested in that, study up in the 5.0 area of Stangnet, and choose your MAF, throttle body, & intake in advance, use them in the initial build.
My eventual upgrade will have; 70mm MAF, 65mm tb, an Exploder type GT-40intake, and aluminum head w/ 1.6rr's. Pretty much just up to Cobra specs, I could have just as easily started with these parts vs, the Bone stock 92 engine I'm using.
Pick your headers to fit your trans, AOD is best with shorty's.
Utilize the Stangnet Search feature!
