Hey guys, just did a radiator swap last week because my stock one was not cooling at all anymore and i ran into over-heating issues. I replaced the radiator with a new aluminum 2 core and ever since my car has ran HORRIBLE it wont idle, it wont rev its just a mess. It is loading up with fuel so bad it pours black smoke when you try to rev it and it sounds like its missing bad...so far here is what i have done to try and fix the problem with no luck

Replaced the following:
ECT Sensor
TFI Module
Plugs
Wires
Cap
Rotor
Coil
Mass Air Sensor

I have also done a compression check and leak down and both came out ok...

I have pulled the upper off and checked all the injectors and the fuel rail which are both holding pressure and the fuel pressure is the same as always right at 38 pounds

If i unplug my mass air and Throttle Position it makes no difference the car runs exactly the same.

I had the car scanned and no codes other than EGR (due to delete) came up

HELP ME PLEASE!!!

Did anything get wet around the distributor when you did the swap? Either that, or when you pulled the CCRM off the fan shroud, did anything get wet/pinched? It's very odd that you have no codes other than the EGR. It does sound like the symptoms of a vacuum leak given that you pulled the upper, but having the problem before you did that, I'm not quite sure what direction to point you. Everything got reconnected?

If it idles like crap, I'd run a cylinder balance test.

Otherwise go back over all the things you just got done touching during the initial install. Move the wiring looms around as it idles and see if it clears up.

Going with the vac line theme of Matt's, check the vac lines coming from the passenger fender (they could get disturbed during a rad swap and are hard and chitty on most of these cars).

Good luck.

yeah it's the pickup in the distributor. I would probably just go buy a complete distributor at a local auto parts store and if it don't fix the problem I would take it back out and take it back and tell them it wasn't needed.

I don't know a good way to test your stock one.

Given the water saturation, pull the cap and ensure things are dry. The PIP being in the bowl of the dizzy makes one wonder. I use electrical contact cleaner to clean the PIP area out (douche the bowl with the cleaner - you need not be super precise).

Definitely pull codes if you haven't already.

The CCRM is the black box mounted on your radiator overflow bottle bracket (it has twenty-some-odd wires going to it).

ok...everything mentioned has been performed and still no luck the only sensor that i have not replaced is the tps...but i dont think thats the issue...i pulled all the connectors apart and cleaned them with electrical cleaner and cleaned the dizzy inside and out...

I did have it scanned a few days ago and no codes other than an egr code showed up...so im lost

the only thing i know is that the car blows black smoke like a freight train and the plugs are soaked with fuel when i pull them

with all these sensors i have bought and changing 5 sets of plugs im starting to get very frustrated as is my wallet...i dont even know where to start looking next as everything i can think of has been addressed
