To me, mpg is an indicator of two things - how much it costs to drive and how effecient the motor is running. The fact that 68efi was able to achieve over 370 rwhp (so, maybe 450 at the flywheel?) and acheive nearly the same fuel consumption as a stock 5.0 (225 h.p.) means he doubled the effeciency of the engine.
So when I think about building an engine, I want to spend money on things that build power AS WELL as make it more effecient.
