bc in some cases i have even more knowledge than you.. im not saying you dont know your stuff and i know everyone else has been around 5.0s for a good longer than me but even tho i hadnt that doesnt mean i dont know cars.. my posts make perfect since alot of the time and even if there not completely correct its then my mistake and your supposed to learn from mistakes.. I have every right to post my opinion in any thread and even if it didnt help, its the thought that counts about me wanting to help someone out with there problem... all im doing is just trying to help.. i may be 15 but that doesnt mean i dont know cars when ive been around cars since the first day i was born.. i was picked up in hotrod chevy trucks when i was 6 and brought to school in prostreets from then and to now.. but do NOT go around insulting my intelligence about cars WHEN i have not said anything to you.. that is ONE line i will not let you cross..

Wow...nicely said.... :nice: I am with you on this and you have given very good advice in the past to...so keep it up.

As for the Carb Conversion, it is very easy to do. I was thinking about doing it to my 92 Coupe but I like the low end TQ and border power band EFI gives you along with MPH. I did choose to use an after market EFI unit insted. The Edelbrock Pro-Flo EFI unit - It's an all in one unit with EVERYTHING you need to make any engine EFI. Here is a pic of the unit, you can put any size injectors in it and it can handel over 700HP

:nice: I'm messin' with ya man. I've been bustin' your balls for a couple of threads... No need to get upset! :p But one thing... Not letting me cross a line? ::steps over the line:: :p

Pickup tube for gas tank or sump pan welded on
Fuel pump (holley blue pump is good and comes with regulator)
1/2 fuel line and fittings (get fittings at local store that way you can keep going back and getting what you need, or get a fuel line kit from summit)
Distributor (easiest if you get one to work with a MSD box)
Carb.
Intake
Air filter
85 throttle cable (IMPORTANT)

Hope this helps !
:OT:

LOTS OF BEER

I was also thinking about doing what the post above says, but i was thinking about longetivety and upgradeability. The 466 is built now, but down the line if i want to add a solid roller cam with forced induction or whatever, the larger fuel pump and return style reg. works great. The blue pump just doesn't have the oomph to feed the 850CFM and 466ci of my motor, especially at 6000rpms. BTW The Holey blue pump is ok for mild small blocks, but the reg is a dead-head style and that pressure can creep up, thats why i don't like them. Anyways have fun with your build, and if and when you blow your motor, a boss 429 or 460 block is the most fun you will ever have building and driving, as long as its not road racing lol.

Oh and for the entire swap including every last part. My Summit Racing bill adds up to $3983.34, thats with tax. Also about $700 worth of ford racing parts but i work in a mustang shop so parts for me are at dealer cost. I just can't wait to get started on the more fun stuff, just gotta find a machine shop to get my crank balanced now for the SIR rods and KB pistons, damn it lol.

Yup,
I think I'm going to go with a 429 Cobra engine proabably by next year. I have the top end apart now and I just picked up a Holley Dominator Intake, A Barry Grant 680 Double Pumper, an MSD Distributor, I've been looking for a throttle assebly from an '85 Stang, and I'm still debating on what fuel pump to use...any ideas??

I saw this posted above but want to make sure it is said and clear.
I had more problems with the ignition on my first efi to carb swap.
So the soltion is MSD everything.

It will make your life alot more simple.
Another thing is to just junk the gas tank and go fuel cell.
If it's a LX you can leave the tank to keep it from looking weired from behind.

I'm using a holley red pump with internal regulator.

trying to think of what else I ran across in the swap but nothing it coming to mind other than the above posted items.

oh yeah and be ready everytime you pop the hood for other mustang owners to explain how u did it and why.

I've killed quite a few FI cars and even caused a few of the owners to go carbed after seeing how well it preformed.

All the garbage about leave it as it is is just total BS were hot rod guys and this is what we do.
If we left everything the way it was there would be alot more guys on here with 4 cyl cars.

I have a older 86 notch in my shop now thats had all sorts of work done to it.
IE
87^ 1/4 glass
83 capri fenders
ect ect
I left the 4 eye bumper but still caught a cussing from a couple people.
My answer to them is. "Hand me your master card and we will do it just like you want." When my master card covers it it's how I want it.

Needless to say I caught hell over the 86 notch but I don't care. It was trashed when I got it and I alreay had these parts around.
I stoped this notchbacks trip to the crusher 10 mins before they hauled it off.
So had it not been for me the car would have already been a dog food can.

Do what makes YOU happy and have fun doing it. It's your car and your back that earned the money to do it.

I did the swap to carb, and love it! No hassle with needing to get someone to change the computer settings with each change I do. Handles health cams well, etc. The only disadvantage would be less gas milage for a daily driver.

They just look better also :)
