I was wondering if you could just bolt the TB straight to the intake manifold? I want to delete my EGR and EGR spacer. Also does any one have the EGR sim or know where to get one? Are there any up sides or down sides to this? Any info about this would be very helpful.

Thanks,
Dave

It is possible to do but it will take some work. The throttle cable bracket bolts to the egr spacer so you would need to modify or fabricate a bracket for your throttle cable. You may also run into issues with clearance of the heater tubes and the fuel rails. If you want to delete the EGR system, it would be easier to just create a b-off plate to mount to the EGR spacer in place of the EGR valve.

it's not worth it to eliminate the egr unless you are makin some serous power. they do make a kit to do it so you retain your throttle cable mount points but you are probably gonna need a tune afterwards. i suggest searching the forums about this i know there is a good amount of info on it.

I don't think its worth it, the EGR doesn't function at WOT anyway.......if I understand it correctly?

Thanks. The reason I want to delete it is because It doesnt work any way. So I figured Why not save some weight and make it look a little cleaner under the hood. Thats all. By chance do you know where to get that kit?

Thanks,
Dave

You should not delete the EGR valve/ circuitry without a real TUNE. This function must be shut off in the computer or else you will run into problems. Those simulators that trick the ECU into thinking that the EGR is still in place are not a good solution. Use an EGR block off plate and a TUNE or just make the system work again...it can only help you!

Do you know of any place in the chicago land area where I can get it tuned to delete the EGR out of the computer?

Thanks,
Dave

Honestly, it would be easier and more beneficial to get the EGR working properly than to bypass it properly.

The EGR does not work at WOT and does not rob any HP at all. It increased fuel economy at part throttle crusing by pumping inert gas into the engine allowing the computer to pull back some fuel.

WHen the EGR is bypassed and the computer tricked with simulators, you tend to run lean because the computer still pulls back fuel and timing but the air is not oxygenated so it will burn.

To properly delete, you would need to block the ports at the heads, install EGR simulator resistors and then get a tune that either turns the EGR off totally or adjusts the part throttle fuel curves to compensate for running lean.

A tune it not cheap, so i wouldn't get one specifically for the EGR.

Honestly, it really is better to keep it functional

I tune my car with a tweecer, but depending on the mods for your car a tune may not be worth it. To get a custom chip burnt for your car will run you at least 4-500 bucks and if you dont have different injectors or MAF...a tune wont really make you much power. Paying 4-500 to turn off the EGR isnt very smart...you should just restore the system to working condition. good luck man

When you put it like that it makes complete sence to keep it functional

Probably not.

But the sad thing is someone else will come into this thread wanting to eliminate their EGR, scan past all the posts telling you how to do it properly and how it can hurt performance if done incorrectly and then see his post about the simulator and then reply. "Where can i get the simulators from?"

It's happened in every other EGR thread
