well i tried making one this weekend. We got the copper and flared out one side and then noticed we couldnt bend it even if it was hot because of how thick it is. So where can i buy a egr tube other than from ford? I looked in 5.0resto but couldn't find one. Any help thanks

EGR will work with LT's as long as they have the hook up on the passenger side header. If you wanted EGR stuff look on eBay. If you can't find an auction for someone selling EGR stuff, try looking at past winning bidders on an EGR block off plate and email that person. They might be interested in selling their old EGR stuff.

I know that but im wondering what is the point if the egr feeds air to the cats...no cats no egr.

I can see if he needs to put cats back on for testing or something. But if he doesn't then i say leave it off.

well some people have had problems with removing their EGR systems as this stans for Exhaust Gas Recurculation and the purpose is to lower combustion temps to help reduce the nitric oxide in the exhaust....so removing this system CAN cause detonation and unwanted EXTRA heat...but most never have any problems with removing it....so just i thought i would throw in.

no. egr puts exhaust gas back through the block. the smog/air pump (thermactor) pumps air into the exhaust pipe to make the catalytic converters work better.

he could still run egr w/an off-road h-pipe. running smog equipment would be pointless, though.

my car is pinging really really bad and i cant figure out why it is and from what people say your egr will advance your timming or something like that. So going to try this now.

Havent heard about it advancing your timing...mustangless above stated that it can cause increased combustion temps...which could lead to detonation..but if your not sure about your timing then just take your SPOUT out and check your base to make sure. Sure be 10* for stock.

Did you have any problems after removing them? Would you recommend leaving the egr?
the only reason i disconnected the egr is because my headers didn't have an egr bung. there's no real reason to disconnect it unless you buy headers that don't have a bung. there is no performance gain or anything as far as i know.

here's the egr stuff:

you shouldn't have any problems if you choose to disconnect it, but you will trip the ce light. there is an easy fix for this, though. take a look at the left piece in the picture. this will have to be left plugged in the wiring harness it belongs to. also, the needle pin needs to be taped so that it is half compressed. that way, the computer thinks that the egr is functioning in the normal range. you can hide it behind the intake and you will never see it again. i had this done for two years, until i got my tweecer and could directly tell the computer that the egr wasn't connected.

that said, i wouldn't recommend disconnecting the egr unless you have to!
