My cooling fan finally gave out on me a couple of days ago. I reside in Phoenix AZ and I called a Ford dealership and they quoted me $372.50 +tax for a new fan. Does that sound about right? If so, I did not think it would be that much. Is there a different route I can go. I am looking for a fan that requires no modification, reasonably priced, and still as good as the stock fan, because I read that was the one thing that the developers got right with our cars as far as the cooling system. What about Autozone, Napa, or Checkers? Well at least I dont have to be charged labor...gotta be thankful for that.

I looked at Autozone and Napa and they each have one that works with my stang. Both priced about $200. Has anyone used those brands, or would even recommend using a fan from either of those two part stores? When my fan blew it was smoking from what I could only assume was the fan motor...would it be pausible to just replace the fan motor or should I just replace the whole assembly? Thanks for any help guys!

I would bench test the existing motor speeds (use fused power).

AZ should have a new motor for about 70-80 bucks IIRC (Siemen's - a Tier one OEM supplier).

A Taurus 3.8L fan would be pretty similar if getting a J/Y fan that's not a SN95 fan.

Good luck.
