camman, do you think your spal fan is loud? We put one on the 68 EFI proj car and it's nearly unbearable-the noise it makes. But it is like a small hurricane...
I use a fan out of a 94 Couger. It is almost a perfect fit(top to bottom, side to side). I am still using the stock alt. and I dont have any charging or cooling problems. The only thing that you have to do is trim 1/4" off the depth of the schroud so that it clears the crank pulley, cut two slits in the bottom to secure it to the stockholders, and you can still use the overflow battle. You have to get a t-stat control from like outo zone for like 20 buck and it will turn on and off whenever it reaches the temp that you set it too(car on or off) which is a good thing I think,LOL. Anyway there are many opinons on this subject, I look at it this way $10 for the fan and $15 for the tstat. Have fun.
