This is the only picture I have currently. There is a positive wire coming from the battery and a black wire going straight to ground. There is one other red wire that goes inside the car. Is this an ignition hot wire? Where is the best place to wire this? And also, which way does the thermostat switch work? Farthest counterclockwise is 180 degrees?

I don't know what the brand of the electric fan is. It was hooked up by the red wire going inside the car and being wrapped around a fuse and the fuse jammed in, but I can't remember which fuse it was. I want to wire it up the right way to prevent any electric fires.

In this case, you will want to find out who makes the controller and get a wiring schematic for it. Just because something is wired up and seems to work doesn't mean it's safe.

Your set-up sounds kinda backwards of how some controllers I've dealt with worked so I won't even venture guesses.

that looks right, thanks. Now my question is, Do I want to hook the one wire to an ignition controlled or non ignition controlled source? The non ignition source would allow the fan to run when the engine is turned off, but would it drain the battery?

i had mine non switched. the fan would occasionally after the car was ran and then shutoff. usually only on hot days and only for a minute or so

The best place for the hot or lead wire is on the back of the alternator. I have installed mine and used it for two years and love it, it works flawlessly. One wire goes to your ac as the fan needs to run when the compressor is running, and another to ground, one hot wire, and lastly the other wire you either connect to an "accessory" style wire meaning it only operates when the car is on, or you do another low voltage power wire to make sure it runs how you have the thermo set even if the vehicle is off.

Lastly, you wanna set it to how your car runs, mine is about 80% of the way rotated to the furthest most counterclockwise placement.
