Electric Fuel pump question

I have Aeromotive 1000 and am assuming the pump inlet should be lower than the sump. I've seen pictures where the lines go up to the pump. Can that work?

It's best to have the pump gravity fed by the tank but not always neccesary. It's hard to do most of the time. Just don't put the pump too high above the tank.
