Electric super charger?

Hey guys you gotta check this out. I was just surfing the web actually looking for different chips and programmers for my 00 GT when I stumbled upon this website. They make an electric super charger (essentially an electric fan inside your intake tube) that they claim will put a stock GT up to 324hp im assuming at the crank no way could it be to the wheels. I was just curious i mean this thing does producce 3psi, does anyone know if these things actually work. I mean in theory yea it should give some gains, but then again im sure its just a joke and a big waste of money.

I dunno Im bored at work have nothing better to do than think about crap like this haha let me know what you guys think.

These are awesome I run 6 in line but I have to tow a 5kw trailer to get the voltage I need. The trailer adds some weight which does affect my launches. I also run one on each exhaust pipe but I have them installed backwards to create additional back pressure in the exhaust.

It's a fan, not a compressor.

Send them an email and ask for the compressor map. ...

Just as a quick reference I looked the specs on a regen. type blower. To produce around 500 cfm at 80 inches of H20 (about 3 psi) it has a 27 Hp electric motor. In short, it is a scam.

Always remember, nothing is free and you can't cheat physics.

So thats your secret, thats all well and good but your cant be getting
over 50 additional hp with that set up.
Im using a gas powered leaf blower(no need for the 5kw trailer, saves weight)
Its attached to the hood and is good for 100 hp.

Hey, that twin leafblower setup may actually add a couple horses. It is rediculous and impractical, but could potentially add a couple horses. I say that because a leafblower may actually have enough fan to add .1 psi at the airflow rate that an engine would consume.
The problem is not that it takes more power than you can gain. the problem is that the motor and fan are not designed to provide anything near the mass flow or pressure rating required. It takes WAY more power to provide that.
Consider this: a belt driven supercharger can quite easily consume 50-100hp on a typical street v8 application, depending on boost and type of blower. It takes a significant amount of power to compress this amount of air going into the engine. Given a proper sized electric motor (think 50+hp) and properly designed compressor, you could use electricity for short periods of time. You would most likely need extra batteries for the capacity to run the motor, and certainly a better way to charge them. But you could certainly make more power than you consumed, similar to a typical belt driven blower. However, it would be very difficult to control the boost output. Blowers are often driven by the crank because that automaticlly controls the boost.
So yes, a properly sized and powered electric supercharger could work, but what is sold online is completely inadequate to even feed a lawn mower engine. First, the fans are not designed to provide only very light pressure increases (hundreths of a psi) and significantly less flow than an automotive engine consumes. I have never seen a properly designed electric supercharger, but it could work if you had a big enough electric motor, enough battery capacity, and a way to control the output as rpms and throttle position changed.

for a fun project we did put this leaf blower on a 5.7 GTO and it actually gained 2.7 hp at 5500 , we laughed our asses off

Heck with the leaf blower, just hook up a major Shop Vac... Then not only will you get a 1/2hp but your Mustang will look ricer tricked to the max...
