Electric window switches

I've had my electric window regulators installed for some time now and have been holding off on deciding what kind of switch to use. I wanted to use the ones from "AutoLoc" that use the factory handles since I want to leave the 67 deluxe interior mostly unmolested. I finally got a pair (part number EWS-2, check Google or www.autoloc.com) and did a test fit yesterday.

Dey aint gonna work!

The factory crank is physically connected to a gear in the arm which raises and lowers the window (duh). The electric window unit is designed as a direct replacement so it is designed pretty much the same way except that it does not have the shaft portion that connects to the handle (again...duh). The problem is that the electric regulators use all 6 bolt locations that the factory units do, and two of those bolts are about an inch from the hole the rod for the handle goes through. The AutoLoc switch is about 3X3X0.5 and there's nowhere near enough space to mount the switch in the 'factory" location.

there is a ton of room inside the door, I am hoping I can add three one-inch spacers and just use longer bolts, but that will require alonger shaft on the switch. I have a call into their tech support group to see what my options are for getting longer shafts. If that is not feasible I guess I'll have to return them.

Just wanted to share the info that these are NOT compatible with 65-68 Mustangs assuming you want to use the factory window crank locations.

edbert, there are several guys on the VMF who have made them work just fine on their 65-68 cars. not sure if they had to do any mods to the switch or not but they will work, so don't give up just yet. i'll see if i can find a link for you.

I came back to this thread to say what I'd found and brian already had it. Basically this is what I was told...

I purchased the "AutoLoc" brand, they work fine on 65/66 but not on 67/68. The ones I needed were from Hotronics and they have a special part number that is not on the web or in the catalogs it is EWC-25. I spoke with Greg over there and he said they are a direct bolt in, I sure hope I don;t have to do surgery like in that second post since my regulators are already installed (I have the skinned knuckles to prove it).
