I have a huge problem with my headlights. When I turn them on they flicker on and off. Then stay on for a few seconds then go out again. Both do it at the exact same time. I'm thinking a loose connection some place where they join together. Do our light switches go out? So for those who have gutted their engine bay(oink) or anyone else who has had this problem before please help me out. I can't drive my car at night b/c everyone I pass thinks I'm flashing my lights on and off at them. I do have aftermarket headlights and bulbs but, I don't think that is the problem. Thanks. :flag:

Your aftermarket bulbs could have caused the problem. Most of them are much higher wattage and could cause electrical problems. Also our headlight switches are prone to go out too. Take it out and I bet you find that the factory connector could be melted and needs to be replaced. Mine were doing strange things and it turned out that the connector was melted.

Well, I'm pretty sure that I found the problem. On the back of the headlight switch is a grey plastic cluster with wires going into it. The brown wire was severed a little and the hole that the wire went into was melted and cracked. So that grey piece has to be replaced. I cut the wire and spliced in a new piece. Put it back together and it seemed to have fixed it. Well after about 15 minutes they started to flicker on and off again. I hate electrical problems. And this one is getting old fast. I noticed that the wire would get hot to the touch before I spliced in the new one. Does this mean that my headlights are drawing to much juice for my stock system to keep up? I plan on replacing the plastic piece. I'm just looking for a quick fix until I can make it to the junk yard. Thanks for the help. :flag:

i currently have a similar problem with my lights. i think its the aftermarket bulbs. i turn on my lights and one will come on dim. if i open the hood and mess with the bulb connection it comes on strong and i can drive. then next time i turn on my lights the other bulb is doing the same thing.

funny thing is... i ran with these bulbs for a year before this started happening. does anyone have any suggestions?
