EMANUEL CHILDRENS HOSPITAL TOY DRIVE-PORTLAND

OK guys, heres the information on the Emanuel Childrens Hospital toy drive for this year. This is probably the most moving event you will ever attend. Family Fun Rod Club started it some years back and Mustang Wranglers got invited 2 years ago. Our first year we had around 25 mustangs and around 25 Hot rods. Last year we had close to 45 Mustangs and around 35 hot rods. This year I would like to blow the lid off of this event with more that 60-70 Mustangs and more than 100 cars total. (yes Jesse, even corvettes) haha. You go out and purchase a gift for a child, boy or girl, 1 year to 18years old, dont wrap it, and we put it around a large tree in the lobby of the hospital. Then the gifts are taken up to the children. You can go help deliver if you want to. Some people cant do it. You might also think about getting something for mom or dad (lotions or perfume for mom and slippers for dad). These gifts are for kids that are really sick or terminally sick and have been in the hospital for along time. Sometimes mom and dad dont have time to buy gifts for the kids, let alone for each other. Come join us and make a difference in some families lives. Its Saturday, Dec 8th. We are meeting at Portland Meadows between 10:30 and 11:30 and will be leaving at 12:00 noon with a Portland Police motorcycle escort down MLK Blvd to the hospital. A bunch of us are going to meet at Elmers Pancake House at Delta Park at 8:00 am for breakfast before hand. You are welcome to join us. It would be great if some of the folks who frequent Stangnet NW forums in the local Vancouver and Portland metro area and some of the businesses in the Mustang Hobby would join us for some mustang comraderee and help make this a great Christmas for the kids. Hope to see you there. (this is a rain or shine event) Dave Webster - President - Mustang Wranglers of Oregon.

Dave,

I think this is an honorable event and all who can attend certainly should. I am not allowed to take saturdays off since I am in retail untal after january, otherwise I would certainly be there. Congrats on your previous success and I hope you get just what you want this year!

This is definitely one of the best events to do with a club or as a solo participant. It's for a good cause so make sure you can come out for a few hours on the 8th.

I wish I could attend this. I wanted too last yr, but work got in the way, which is happening again this yr. Here's my thoughts:

If you believe in Karma, doing good things will bring things back to you in a positive way, then this is an example. To add to it, the gradification one recieves when helping others is something that cannot be put into words, only smiles reveil the true sense of Helping, and this is one of the instances where the Smile will shine.

Hey Dave,

Is it just Jessie's Vette that can attend or others?

I would like to do this too. I hope it will be nice that day!

Hey Patrick,

any car can join in on the fun in the cold that day. Rose City Vettes were there last year, so you won't be the only one rolling in a fiberglass body.

Brian

P.S. Jesse and Lisa - you should bring out the Vette and GTO, that is if the Vette sees light of day in the winter.

Patrick - all cars are welcome. This event transcends any car preference. Family Fun Rods started this 4 or 5 years ago and they are a mixed hot rod club.. I just want to see as many people as we can muster up for the kids.

It doesn't matter if the trunk emblem says "Shelby", "SS", "GTO", or "Pinto". As long as there are toys in that trunk all are welcome.

Weather looks to be pretty good for this event. I'll be there and I've invited some friends. I might even invite a different car club if that's okay. I can't imagine it not being okay.

Mike - invite everyone. While my goal would be to have over 100 Mustangs show up, having over 100 of any cars would be cool. Alot of folks come on here and wonder where all the Stangs hang out, well heres an opportunity to get together with other Stangs, new and old and its for a great cause. The procession up MLK is cool part because we are escorted by motorcycle cops and they dont let even pedestrians cross until we are all passed by. Old saying - Run what ya brung. Bring them all. Hey Dave,

I will be showing up with some friends also. Some will be showing up at Elmers and I think some later at Portland Meadows. I don't have an exact count. I am thinking about 5 to 10 Corvettes.

Thanks for promoting this, I believe it is an important event!

Dave,

I have invited friends also, I will be the only one with a mustang but everyone will have atleast 1 present in the trunk!

Also, thought i would share this... One of my friends called the hospital to inquire about delivering the toys to the children and the nurse she talked with said that people were not allowed to deliver the presents to the children anymore. They just kinda stack up the toys and the nurses go christmas shopping for the kids from the stack. I just thought I would let everyone know cause I really wanted to deliver the gifts. See everyone tomorrow!:SNSign:

New Guy, count me in!

Hi,

Count me in! I started a toy drive at work, and have about three garbage bags of toys to deliver. I would also like to meet up with the gang at Elmers.
Blown 04, I left you a PM.
