Has anyone ever used an electric smog pump in place of a belt driven smog pump and passed the visual inspection at emissions?

I can't find much information on electric smog pumps, I know they came on the SN95 Cobras, however I am not able to find a picture of the unit or how it mounted. I would like to free up that area for my turbo piping.

Hey brah, you will not (or should not, unless you get a doofus) pass the visual down here.

That said, I once looked at using an E-pump just because my pump crapped itself (I was going to gut the stock pump and put the E-pump inside it). I never found one cheap enough to give it a try. I see no reason why it won't work. They often have an ingress port as well - I was going to put a filter on it and call it good.

Update the thread (or email me) with how this and your turbo project go.

That is definately not what I wanted to hear, looks like I am going to need a new smog pump bracket

Truthfully I haven't made much progress on this project yet, but in my defense I have also been doing a fox TB swap and valve cover polish at the same time. I don't have a digital camera that works at the moment, hopefully picking up one on sale the day after thanksgiving. When I get some pictures, I will try to post them.

im a pennsylvania emissions and saftey inspector and and electric smog pump will not pass the visual inspection here. it has to be OE quality. sorry but if you travel less than 5,000 miles a year you are for an exemption which means that it dosent matter what emissions equipment you do or do not have.
