So I was coming home from Texas Tech University in Lubbock after a college visit, and i never thought that I would end up getting pulled over three times during the 250 mile drive. Any advice on the following would be greatly appreciated. First time: There are many small towns through this highway that you have to slow down for. I was passing through one of these when I get lit up after I pass through the town. The officer claims that he followed me through the small town "pacing" me at 55 in a 45. I have a major problem with this. I have recieved a few tickets before, but this is one that im seriously considering fighting. I know for a fact that I was going 45, because I know that all these small towns are the ones that will get you. I didnt see any cars close behind me, so I beleive he read 55mph in an attempt to catch up to me. I just think its really wierd that he caught me at such an even number. 55. On the ticket, it also says that I was caught in "heavy" traffic. I was the only person on the road, but I guess in a small town, if you call the cop and you as the only people on the road, its heavy. Second time: I revieved a written warning from a state trooper for going 68 in a 65. Third time: I recieved a verbal warning for turning off my brights too late. So I have 2 things... 1) do cops really have a monthly quota to meet. and 2) if any cops can help me out with the "pacing" technique, that would be great. sorry about the length.

you got one ticket, so one thing to worry about. Warnings are like souvenirs.

In order to fight the ticket you have to be willing to show up in court uless you hire a lawyer. You probably ought to hire a lawyer - going to court without one is like a lamb to the slaughter. It's not about right and wrong, it's about knowing the law, and a person who business is knowing the law will be aware of options you aren't.

I don't know how tickets are in TX, but where I live anything up to 10 over is a pay and forget kind of thing - it doesn't affect your insurance, and comes off your record in a year anyway.

sorry to hear about that man! I've heard of the "monthly ticket qouta" thing myself. sounds like you ran into some real hard a**es! Look into how this will affect your points and how much it's gonna cost. If it doesn't hurt your points you should just pay it off.....i know i know....the man is stickin' it to ya here, but sometimes it's easier just to pay the damn thing! Classic case of wrong place, wrong time though. Why do they have such an affinity for pulling over sports cars!!!! crapola
