Engine BAY paint color Questions

I want to know the color for the clutch bar release equalizer and the gas pedal bar that comes through the firewall from the gas pedal. On a 1966 automatic car I looked at that was at the atlantic city auction last month the gas bar was metal color. Is that correct I am guessing that the bar would turn to Black when it went into the interior of the CAR ?

I can't help you with the clutch pedal, but the accelerator rod (gas pedal bar)has what I think is a phosphate coating, but looks natural. I've seen alot of people use cast (iron) paint on them and they look pretty good.

Yes but does it go black on the interior side ?

Nope!

For the phosphate coating....you can blast the piece to bare metal and spray on PHOSCOAT. It darkens the metal up and corrodes it to the point where it will not corrode or rust any longer. You can pick up a bottle at any automotive paint supply store....it comes in a quart or gallon size bottle...and you spray it like windex.

ok if thats not black in the interior. What about the brake and clutch pedal Arms ?

My brake pedal arm is black, but I can't tell if its paint or black oxide. My guess is black oxide... same thing used on the fender bolts.
