Engine break in period, built motor guys welcome

I did the 500 oil change, 500 oil change and then drove it like I stole it. I did start driving it harder and harder the more miles I got on it. Also dont drive it at a steady RPM all the time by this I mean dont drive it 20-30 miles at 60mph the whole time, drive it at 60 for 5-10 miles, then 55 for 5-10 miles, then 65 for 5-10 miles, just dont keep you speed the same time for a long period of time.

I hated driving my car like this because I wanted to go WOT sooo bad with the new cams and other goodies.

I wouldn't wait 3000 miles to put the turbo on either unless you have to, the motor is really pretty much broke in the first 20-30 miles but the reast is to seat everything. They always say after 1000 you can do pretty much what ever you want. I've seen guys build motors and with 100 miles on them they are racing them at the track and spraying the piss out of them.

After i did mine, i tried to throw everything at the car. They say that its good for it to be under "pressure" by driving up hills and down hills and leaving it in gear letting the commpression slow you down the hill... and ALWAYS changing the rpms.. dont let it stay in one place for too long..

Also its just a good idea period to let the car warm up. Even 30 seconds of the car warming up will add miles and years to the life of your motor. I try and let mine sit for about 2-5mins every time i drive it (well i do that with every car i drive)

As far as changing the oil i think your right on. I did mine at 500, then 2200 WITHOUT taking it over 4k. Then when i rolled over at 3000 (still not sure how i made it that long w/out punchin it) i ripped on the thing for about a week stright

I say no redline for the first 3000 miles. After that, it's fair game

thats strangs, i thought vt told me i could dyno tune mine after 500 miles. and a dyno tune means red lineing hard. that is going to be with the blower too!!!!!

It will most likely be fine. I just like to baby my car

after my rebuild, I drove from Milton (steeda.ca) back to Montreal, the engine was on the dyno, so it did run hard...i drove back, throughout the powerband, various RPM's and what not, It didn't drive it "hard" but I didn't baby it either..

With conventional oil, I waited until 1800km's, then swapped to Royal Purple. And now I'm changing the oil again today, after 5000km....

I didnt choose 1800km for the first change for a reason, only work schedules and stuff...

I have had it to the track, under the first 5k, I have gave it a good go, it's working fine, and I love it...I was really confused about break-in's myself, but after consulting Steeda, Royal Purple and various other tech-supports, I've been told that what I have done is fine....

I guess, there is no tried, true theory, only personal opinions, but who knows...

I love new motors.
