Engine Break-in Period = No Road Trip?

Have about 200 miles on the new Mustang and was going to take a road trip down to my sisters - about 8 hours away. I saw in the owners manual that it is not recommended to run the engine at a continuous speed (like highway driving) for the first 1,000 miles. amnit:
Bad idea to go, or no big deal?

Just don't use cruise control, vary your speed some.

Yeah, I wouldn't worry about it too much. The dealer brought my car to me here in the Detroit, MI area from Cincinnati, OH before I even seen her and I have about 2500 miles on her now with no problems so I guess what Chldsplay says would be true, as long as you vary your speeds somewhat and don't stay constant you should be fine. These new engines really don't require a breakthrough period (from what I hear). But would vary the speed.

Highway = Okay

To reiterate what everyone is saying, just vary your speed on the highway. I had to get on the highway with my car (30 mile commute to school, one way) with my 06 from day 1. You have about a 20 mph range while you are driving. I would just downshift, rev, pass, chill, race ahead, and basically, vary my speed and RPMs. You will be fine, just don't sit at the same speed or RPMs too long.

I just hit 5000 miles on my stang, and I noticed a major change. I seems to be running better than ever. Better response, better acceleration. just a better overall feel to the whole car.

Definately a better car once it breaks in. My best quarter mile run with 600 miles on the car was 16.18. Now with just a tune im down to 14.91

Just be sure to use different gears and run varying ranges on the tach...
