anyone have tips on installing the rear main seal. i have a late 351 with a one piece rear main. this will be my 3rd try. the last 2 leaked everytime so i am trying to get this one right. anyone have some tips let me know.
Make sure that area is very clean, put a thin coating of oil on the crank surface so you do not damage the new seal when you install it. Put a thin coating of Permatex around the outisde edge of the seal, gently tap it into place, use your finger dipped in hot water to smooth out the sealant that squeezes out, make sure none attaches to the crank surface. Let it set up over overnight if you can...
It won't leak... also remember to put Loctite on the flywheel/flexplate bolts so they do not leak oil either.
