Hope someone can help me identify the engine in my 67 coupe. The previous owner replaced the engine a few years ago. He told me it was a 302Ci from a later mustang, but after looking at the number stamped on the manifold, I’ve decoded it as being a 1966 engine from a Fairlane which should be a 289 if My hunch is right? I need to order some parts to maintain the engine and I also need to give the engine a good service and replace other items but don’t want to order the wrong parts and I’m not even sure what size engine is in the car.
The number on the inlet manifold is: C6OE (1966 Fairlane) - 8425 - A 6M20 (20th December 1966)
Behind the starter motor is also CF23 (23rd June 1966) 26 ETTE CA S
All the numbers on the inlet manifold and engine block point to an earlier engine even though there are receipts for engine mount adapters for a 5 litre engine.
I’ve tried googling and researching these numbers but i can’t find any more information. Hoping someone can shed more light on it so I can get parts ordered. Thank you!
