Engine identification

Hope someone can help me identify the engine in my 67 coupe. The previous owner replaced the engine a few years ago. He told me it was a 302Ci from a later mustang, but after looking at the number stamped on the manifold, I’ve decoded it as being a 1966 engine from a Fairlane which should be a 289 if My hunch is right? I need to order some parts to maintain the engine and I also need to give the engine a good service and replace other items but don’t want to order the wrong parts and I’m not even sure what size engine is in the car.
The number on the inlet manifold is: C6OE (1966 Fairlane) - 8425 - A 6M20 (20th December 1966)
Behind the starter motor is also CF23 (23rd June 1966) 26 ETTE CA S
All the numbers on the inlet manifold and engine block point to an earlier engine even though there are receipts for engine mount adapters for a 5 litre engine.
I’ve tried googling and researching these numbers but i can’t find any more information. Hoping someone can shed more light on it so I can get parts ordered. Thank you!

That ETTE is actually E7TE. It is a 5.0 roller cam block.
Thanks for the info! I’ve messaged the previous owner and he’s told me that it currently has a 302Ci (5 litre) V8 from a later mustang but he used the original intake manifold from the 289 engine! Mystery solved finally! I’ve checked for any more numbers on the engine and found a partial VIN stamped on the engine block in the middle of the V. The first letter is faded but I think it reads: GF296622 ... I’ve googled and researched what I can. I believe it’s a 5 Litre HO engine from a 1986 mustang. But apparently those were fuel injected yet mines carburettor? Any ideas?

Yes it is a 1986 and since it came from Dearborn, it was most likely a Mustang 5.0 HO. The 1986 engines had true flat top pistons without valve reliefs, so if you're lucky, they were swapped out. I was considering taking my 1987 HO engine and installing the top end from a 1965 289 on it. Hopefully your engine has the 50 oz. balancer and flywheel or flex plate installed.

I’ve checked the firing order today and found that it has the firing order of an older generation 302 engine not the 5.0 HO. So I’m wondering if it’s an older 302 engine that was sitting on a shelf somewhere in the factory and put into a 1986 mustang at time of production?

No. It's a 1986/87 roller block.

Firing order depends on the cam. Cams are easy to change, especially when an engine is rebuilt.

Intake manifolds and bellhousings interchange between older and newer blocks/longblocks.

I also have a mystery engine. I looked at the ford stamp on the block and it reads 4DE-6015-AA. There is another stamp next to it that says 4P18. Then engine shop that cleaned the block looked the damn thing up and down and could not tell the year. Was wondering if any of you would have an idea? thanks. I have also checked other forums and most of the time there are 4 digits to begin the code but mine only has 3. It is a nightmare trying to find parts for this thing but I am positive that it is a 302.
