engine noises

Recently installed a set of AFR 165cc heads and a steeda #19 cam with a trick flow street intake. when i ran it for the first time it sounded like the engine had a valve tap. so i tore the heads back off but everything was ok. i thought maybe it was a collapsed lifter so i replaced all the lifters and pushrods but the noise is still there. oil pressure is ok and i cant think of anything else that would be wrong......any ideas....????

when it gets warmed up it pings a little but the valve tapping is all of the time. how do the rocker arm shims work. i was told that with bolt on rockers you just had to torque them down in sequence. the shims adjust the height right??? how do you check weither you need a shim or not

you have to acheice the torque spec within 3/4 of a tur to 1 1/2 turn, if its less than 3/4 of a turn you need longer pushrods, if it's over 1 1/2 turn then you have to start shiming :nice: This is for pedestal mount heads with non-adjustable rockers.
