Engine rebuild advice please

Their are 2000+ engine that sell on ebay for 1k with 70k+ miles. Can it fix my 98gt ? my tranny is grind in reverd , but if I put in 4 then rever it will not grind, should I replace the tranny too ? and my clutch is vibrate, its good ideal to to king cobra at the same time ? thanks

Not worth the money.

1) You don't know what kind of shape the engine is in
2) you can buy a brand new shortblock from MMR that can with stand 500+WHP for $2700

What is short block and long block ? I email MMR and here what they tell me

New forged pistons, moly faced rings, headgaskets and machine work will be roughly $1400, we also have brand new factory shortblocks or longblocks, the shortblocks are $1999.99 and the longblocks (265HP) are $2699.99, these may be a better alternative for you.

MMR

If I buy short block, what part from my 98gt will need ?

If I buy long block, what part from my 98gt will need ?

My engine have worm ring and stuff ? what its best for me ? my local shop charge me 1200 for take out the engine and put the new one it, that just the labor.

short block: block with pistons and crank installed.
long block: short block, plus heads, timing components and oil pump.

with a long block you'll have to re-use your front end accessories, intake and exhaust manifolds, cam covers, oil pan injectors and the like.

with a short block all that plus the timing gear, heads, front cover and possibly the oil pump

IMHO getting just a short block for a Mod motor doesn't make much sense unless you plan on doing the hardest part of the engine build yourself or you already have some nice heads or something like that  ...but again IMHO, you're probably better off following the recommendations of someone like MMR than random dudes on the interweb :rlaugh:

The hardest part of the engine build?? You mean installing the heads ??

That would be cake compared to installing the crank, bearings, pistons, rods, rings, and that other sh1t. Plus if they aren't to spec, it'll knock, and become worthless. IMO a shortblock is a great choice for someone who wants to save some cash....
