I just bought a stock engine rebuilt (long block) from Promar Engines for $1,500 shipped.
I'm giving it to my close friend to install it cause he has experience, what gaskets do i need for the engine swap.

If it's a long block it should already have head gaskets installed, and the rear main should be installed, but you will need most everything else. Valve cover gaskets, timing cover gasket, water pump, front seal, header gaskets, upper and lower intake gaskets, oil pan gasket, oil pump and pick-up gaskets. Probably be easier just to buy a complete Fel-Pro gasket set

sorry about that. can't believe no one has answered yet :). just buy an entire fel-pro gasket kit. it will have all the gaskets you need :)

@ Summit Racing

yea I just redid EVERY THING on my engine. First time I used trick flow gaskets (they gave out). Then the next time we use ford racing stuff. Then the last time we rebuild the engine, I use the cheap and easy fel-pro. I saved about 25-50 on gaskets useing the fel-pro.

The only gasket (from a kit) that you wouldn't need are the head gaskets. However, If the motor you purchased comes with an oil pan installed for the fox body cars you probably won't need to remove it. But sometimes they come with the wrong pan or no pan at all and you'll have to swap your old pan over (hence the oil pan gasket)

Good luck with the engine swap... you'll learn a lot about your car when you and your friend do that.

If the long block comes assembled, heads bolted to block, the you should need an oil pan gasket, intake gasket, header gaskets, timing cover gaskets, water pump gaskets, water neck gasket.

Felpro sells all of these in a kit called the RACE Kit, I think its about 40 or so from summit that includes all but the intake, and oil pan gaskets.

I would get the Felpro RACE kit, a 1pc oil pan gasket (Ford, Felpro, SCE) and a Felpro 1250 Intake gasket set.

And dont forget to double check torque specs on all of your fastners from the manufacturer.

Even though the long block comes assembled i need all those gaskets?

Yes!

What is a long block besides a bare block with crank, rods, pistons, cam, timing chain, heads, and valvetrain? It doesn't come with the oil pan, headers, intake, timing chain cover, water pump, and everything else attached, so yes you are going to need all of those gaskets.
