engine sizes

hey im bout to ask a newbie question but i recently acquired a 4.0engine SOHC from a 2004explorer, and was wondering if i could fit this engine into my 1970 mustang. any advice would be much appreciated. thanks

You might find yourself to be a ground breaker, doing a conversion rarely if ever attempted by anyone else.
IIRC the 4.0 shares a bellhousing pattern with the modular 4.6, tranny & fuel injection unique to that family would need to be used.
Another more commonly done conversion may be a wiser choice.

The 4.0 has the smaller bellpattern of the older 2.9 V6's. Unless they changed the block casting recently.
