I have a 99 mustang with the 3.8.the motor is out of car.I am wondering if I can put a v8 from a 1997 crown victoria into this and what I would need if I can do such a swap

It is possible. Just Google 3.8 to 4.6 Swap. But it is a pain. I was thinking the same thing when I was putting the new motor in mine but I decided it was too much aggravation.

Yeah, it's been done plenty of times...but you have to change out almost everything related to the engine, and even some stuff that isn't such as converting the brake booster to a hydroboost unit.

Easy there, this ain't a dating site.

If what you're wanting is to increase displacement and power while you're changing the engine anyway, you could do the 4.2L V6 from the F150s. It shares the 3.8's architecture, so fewer parts would be needed.

You can also just swap the crank and connecting rods. And even bite it out. I was considering it due to smog if that is an issue for you.

I was concidering it to but from all I have read its a lot of aggravation to get it to work from the ignition to driveline and computer swaps
