Hi everyone, I have a 1998 mustang 3.8 5 speed and I bought a 2004 wrecked mustang gt. I was thinking of doing an engine swap and putting the 4.6 in my v6. Any thoughts? Comments ? Tips ? Im very mechanically inclined but this will be my first engine swap ever. Thanks
Warning. The 1996-1998 model year is very different electrically from a 1999-2004 model year.
Further differences is in the fuel system. One being return and the other being return-less.
There are people out there that have swapped the car's complete wiring harness from a GT into a V6. However the people doing this swap are staying withing the 1996-1998 or 1999-2004 model year boundaries.
IMO this swap won't give you a complete parts swap project. Likely it will also require a 1996-1998 GT to supply the wiring harness and PCM.

Yes. Do the Homework before you begin on it and make sure that it is something you actually want to spend the time on. The worst part of the whole thing is going to be the electronics and wiring though. In my case 95 3.8 out, 02 3.8 in. The fuel rail was a simple solution but the wiring and the sensors are a pain because the 94-95 is even more different than the 96-98.
My brother also bought a car from the towing company now he wants to swap the engine but it's costing a lot of money i think the razor car will benefit those who are auto mechanic
