This is a loaded question.....
Are you planning on hitting the track weekly and banging gears on a regular basis or a daily driver with a light to light race a couple of times a year?
If your going to race it hard every chance you get, I don't think a stock motor (300hp ) will put up with the abuse very long, never mind adding big horses.
So figure out what kind of reliabilty your confortable with and base your hp. around this.
Research what a Roush or a Saleen car has had done from the factory stangs. Example... Upgraded power train, axels, engine, transmission, clutch, etc... This would give you a good basis as to how much money it can cost for reliabilty!
I'm sure if your a daily driver and want another 100-150 hp. and don't abuse the car often, it would hold up pretty good. IMO
