Hey guys my motor is comming back home this thursday, and I dont want to keep it on the floor until it gets in the car. SO, im looking for an engine stand. The motor is a longblock, so it will be fully built on the stand. How much does a fully built motor weight? It is a 87 or so 5.0, with aluminum heads, and aluminum intake.
Also, can someone point me in the direction of a good engine stand, that wont break my bank account?
Finally, what would be the best way to keep the engine fresh/rust free inside while it sits until december?

Prolly a little under 500lbs with all that aluminum.

You can get good engine stands locally in any store that specializes in hydraulics and stuff. We have a place called Northern Tool & Equipment, Canada has Princess Auto, etc. Not sure what to call those stores, but most cities have em.

Get a stand that has 4 wheels instead of three.

No rust? Coat it with oil.

The Ford 302 5.0 weighed about 475 pounds the Ford Boss 5.0 wieghed about 500 pounds.
With alum heads and intake you would probley be at 450 or less.

Make sure to get a decent stand with at least 4 wheels. Harbor Freight had one for 39.99 and it was a good unit, not to mention a crazy low price.

I tried a 3 wheel stand once.... it didn't work out so well.

The 3 wheel stands are hard to move around they tip over to. I would buy a 4 wheel one its best to be safe.

I just got mine at the local parts store. It'll tell you how much weight it can hold.
