Build Thread Enola- Finishing touches

Nothing crazy happening, lots of wiring harness work.. trying to do things the right way and not make some of my old mistakes. The project will in no way be a show car, I just dont have the money for that.

I actually reworked the transmission harness.... again..... this time to break the extra input/output connections that are not used by the transmission into seperate connectors. Now that it is done I am ready to wire them into the car.

I have to finalize the placement of the MS3Pro fuse/relay box... that is harder than it sounds...

I currently have a huge list of items to get done written on tape on the windshield, its going to be a while before i am done... I have not gotten any pictures lately and the video i took was done on a corrupted SD card... figures.

we are still working on the house little by little, I think she wants me to redo the floor soon... yay..

And I forgot an important item.... the AC controls... I will need an input from the control box thru the pressure switch, so one digital input.. then an output to trigger a relay to control the clutch on the compressor.
Seems simple, wont require a huge number of wires.. am I missing something in this control scheme?

Of course the input will trigger the idle to come up and the fan to run, then after a delay I will trigger the output.

Any issue with doing it this way? Should I put the pressure switch on the clutch circuit instead?

That makes more sense actually.. this way the fan, and idle settings wont cycle with the compressor. the other way could cause issues i think.

currently still working on getting the car wired, I am taking my time and working methodically at this. I have all the sensors and engine harness installed minus the AC clutch so far. Keep in mind the accessories will make the engine a bit less clean looking.

since taking these pictures i have covered the exposed parts of the harness in loom. I do plan on doing some spot painting to make the bay all black again and cover the red showing through. I also plan on leaving the water meth system installed, may as well use it. I am going to tune the engine on 87 and spray meth to get the timing up.

Lookin sharp! In my opinion if the line routing is tidy, adding accessories doesn't make it any less clean. What ac compressor are you using? I'm considering pulling a small packaged one from a wrecked newer car.

Just before this rebuild I replaced all the ac components on the car, so I am going to reuse them.. unfortunately they are stock, I would have liked to use a unit from say a Kia so I could mount it low and out of the way.

So, the coil pack wiring goes 12v; signal; ecu gnd; engine ground.
Right?

I will have to look at my coils when i get home but yes, maybe just not in that order.

Lol well there was no previous ECU and I was being picky about where and how it mounted

More pictures..

It's coming together, today I spent hours going over the harness and re-pinning it for the SBF from the LS it was meant for. I only have the pressure switch left to wire and I am done. The external relay box is all wired up and I even setup an SSR with heatsink to pwm the fan. In the morning I plan to cut the grommet in for the trans and O2 harnesses. The mass of my list is items that will take 30mins each to knock out.

For those who care... the ac cycle switch needs to go inline with the AC input to the ecu.. I had to think about this for a bit, but it seems to me that if I am controlling the ac with the ECU anyway I can setup the idle up functions however I want, including a minimum cycle time. I dont want a high idle when the ac is not running, so the switch needs to be on the input. This simplified things for me actually, I have what I need to tie it in right at the passenger kick panel. Now all I must do is make a small 2 wire harness that will drop through the grommet right where I need it.

I also got all the ac lines installed, I will have the system thoroughly evacuated when the time comes.

Ac lines installed, next is some clean up a light scuff and touch up paint. Then on to some of the other items, I think I want to run the transmission lines.
