Equal length vs. shorty's

Longtubes weigh more, cost more, aren't emissions legal, have less ground clearance (worse for lowered cars), much harder to install, can cause hot start issues with starter closeness, clutch cable burning, and need a matching h-pipe, and sometimes can rub against the steering rack...depends on car/model/brand.

I have had both, longtubes currently...no big difference in power...

Oh and you don't necessarily need o2 extenders, just reroute the wires, cross them thru this and that and they will reach

I was wondering about that. After looking at my o2's the other day and the way they were routed ... I thought "hey, these can be made to reach alot further back if needed". But I didn't say that in my post earlier because I've never had 1st hand experience with it and didn't want to jack someone up on that. Now we know.

Before a lot of bad information/magazine word gets spread....I'm here to spread the truth!

I have equal length shorties on my car with Edelbrock heads. Plug wires DO NOT get burned. A/C lines do not get burned. Nothing gets burned. Who ever burns wires with equal length header probably doesn't know what their doing. Period. End of discussion.

PS - I don't wrap my wires with protective heat covering coating or anything else.

Honestly, go with LT's. You'll just need a catted and an un-catted H-pipe for maximum performance.

I will say this for LT's

Hard data does not lie nor is it opinionated

I've seen many, many dyno results from all kinds of different parts we Stangers use to boost power

Those who use LT's, consistently produce more low end torqre

I'm not talkin about a pound or two

20 to 35 pounds is not uncommon

This kind of gain will be felt

Exactly what 5-0 said. may not help much at the track at all with street tires, but in daily driving it definately helps.

I wasn't knocking on you. Your data support what everyone seems to say about the different styles (equals beat shorties but by almost nothing, and LT beats either down low).

Actually while you ARE right about the wires, and whatnot; the foam insulation around my AC lines are fried and the AC line (passenger side) does look a little suspect.

I have BBK E/L shorties, what do you have?

I agree, I have not run into any problems as of yet, however, I will say that the passenger side header is basically resting on the A/C lines.

For me, it hasn't damaged anything functionally, but it has damaged the foam sorrounding, and, depending on the integrity of the lines, they may be damaged subsequently. Have you taken a look? Or noticed it?

I had the same problem actually it almost burn right through the line itself. This was more due to the Prothane motor mounts they raise the motor up some. Easy fix tie straps that have a push in retainer (simiar to that of retainers that keep your interior kick panels in place). There are a bunch of empty holes right under the MAF, I just tie strapped the A/C line and pushed them into the holes away from the headers.
