erattic idle, TPS?

ive had a problem for a while now, in that every time i hammered down on my car, then came to a complete stop, it would idle at like 2000. i always found that if i kicked the throttle to the floor, it would idle back down to about 700. i recently replaced the TPS and now it will idle itself up like that a lot more often, i dont even have to hammer down on it any more and it will start idleing to high, but i can still fix it the same way, kick the gas to the floor one time while im stopped, and it idles back down. any ideas?

The only problems I have had with the TPS is actually when the car would stall out and not start unexpectedly. The code reader indicated the relevent number for a bad TPS in that case. A replacement TPS instantly fixed the problem. Check for codes in case it is that emissions sensor also attached to the throttle body which is another $30 item if it needs replacement.

You can fine tune the TPS by measuring the voltage and twisting it after elongating the screw holes and then making adustments to get your desired voltage if the unit is good, but it sounds like if the problem might be the idle air bypass thing on the throttle body. Remove it, clean it with gumout, and reinstall. Also clean all the oily carbon buildup on the throttle door. Also, sand off the carbon buildup on the interiot of the distributor cap, and pour a bottle of Redline fuel treatment in the next fill up and see if helps clean up things.
