Estimated cost to install new floor pans and cage

I am in the process of having new floorpans and a 6 point chassis engineering rollcage installed in my 66 coupe and I was wondering about how much I can expect to pay in labor costs.

The interior has been stripped out and it's ready to go, any thoughts?

Thanks, I was just quoted $1350 from Mid America Mustangs in St. Charles for ONLY the labor for the floor pans. I'm picking up the parts tomorrow and have another shop in Washington, MO that's going to price it. We'll see what happens.

Todd, have you thought about maybe having the chassis shop put in the floor pans for you? When MDRC put Kevin's roll bar in, they cut holes in the floor with a hole saw and dropped the roll bar down so they could weld over the top without burning the headliner. They also got it to fit nice and tight, but it's a custom one and no a kit, although they have been known to bend them up and ship them out. Look at Kevin's photo's on my webpage or give me a hollar and I'll give you his phone number and you could run down to Rolla and look at it yourself.

Larry, I have a guy from a local body shop coming by tonight to take a look at it and give me a price. I'm picking up all the parts today (floor pans, seat platforms, firewall extensions, new carpet etc. I already have my chassis engineering rollcage and 5 point harness.

I'm hoping to have everything done by May 8th so I can go do some test & tune out at MAR in Wentzville to see how she does.

The new port matched Victor JR and MSD distributor have done wonders for the car, the AFR 185's seem to thouroughly enjoy the air they are getting from the single plane. I am also going to whack my exhaust off just past the mufflers to lighten and reduce a slight amount of back pressure. I think an 11.5 pass in in the near future. If not I'm going to change my stall from the 2500 up to a 3800 and maybe spray a 100 shot on it.

I still don't think I'm going to run WFC, I've never been over to the big track and I'm not sure what class I could compete in anyway.

Oh, also thanks for the advice on the rollbar, I may have them fit it all and at least weld the rear top bars before they put in the new floor pans. That way they can hack up the old ones to drop it down to make the welds. Sound feasible?

You'd run same class as Kevin, either ET2 or Open Comp. ET2 is a bracket race, you have to set a dial for every run. Open Comp, you make 3 passes and your best pass is your index. so say your best pass is a 11.50, that dial minus 1/10th goes on your car and stays there (11.40) and you cant run any faster than that. If you run a car with a 13.40, he gets a 2 second head start, so its sorta like a braket race and not a true heads up class.

I think if you have them put in the bar before the floor, and have them not weld the plates to the old pans, but just to the rockers and let the floor pan guy finish welding the plates to the new pans, you'd be okay. But I'd hash this out with the floor pan installer and the roll bar installer. I hop your bar fits as tight as Kevin's does, I hate the bars that are like 4 inches away from everything.

Same guy is doing both the pans and the bar all at once. The prefab is made for my car so I'm hoping that it will fit tight. I'm going to talk to the dude tonight so we'll see what he says. I need this to be done so I can run, I can't stand it.
