i have an 02 gt, gonna be puttin headers on in the next few weeks, now my car is only a few years old so im not toooo concerned about this but has anyone ever cracked a bolt inside their block during a header install???? i just dont want this to happen and, then be SOL should i be worried???

Its typically recommended to reuse the factory studs and nuts on the 4.6L. If you reuse the studs, you're not going to be removing them anyways. When reusing the studs, it also makes it much easier to hang the new headers in place during the install. That's definitely a plus if you're working alone. Also, don't go cheap on gaskets. Either get new OEM gaskets from Ford or a set of Percy's layered aluminum gaskets. Otherwise, you will be un-installing your headers sooner than you would like.

I've broken a stud off in a head before, but it was on a Plymouth 318. I had to have a guy bring over a right-angle drill and drill and retap the hole. It never was quite right, though.

Yea my dumb a** cracked one of the bolts that holds the stock plenum down to the lower manifold. It cracked half hay down the plenums bolt hole so there was NO getting to it :nonono: So I unbolted the rest of the bolts and spun the plenum around untill it came off :D ............jj

upon re-reading youre post and NOT just the title I realized my responce had absolutly nothing to do with youre question! Damn I new not eating all day untill 8 p.m affected me somehow.......... :owned:
