I am wondering if an aftermarket catted X pipe is legal in Massachusetts and if they will pass inspection. Also what kind do you have?

Thank you all!!

I sure hope so cause thats what I planned on getting.

I can't see why a catted X would be illegal.

Bassani Off Road X, no cats.
As long as you have cats you'll be legal.

I kinda have a question to hop into this. Don't mean to hijack your thread, but what MineralG2k2GT said peaked my interest.

I currently have a rejection sticker because my car is throwing codes because of my pipe, I don't have MILs. Does this mean, that if I get MILs, and the guy doesn't look under the car, my car throws NO codes, that I pass inspection? Don't they still do the sniffer? I'd be screwed if they did, but if he doesn't, I should pass right?

Ozz

I think I have a problem here.

It depends on where you go.

BY THE BOOK, anything LOUDER than STOCK is illegal. Most places don't bother with that as long as it:

a) has cats
b) throws no codes
c) passes the sniffer

Depending on what kinda loosely run shop you can find, they may not even care about some of those. And depending who likes a heavier wallet, you may be able to swing by and pass with open headers

And it's also illegal to replace your cat with under 50 or 60k miles on the car.

Unless they are damaged. (which of course mine were ).

No-one really cares as long as you have cats.

I have the magnaflow x pipe w/ cats and no MIL eliminators. No check engine light. I pass emissions easily. I doubt anyone would really look under the car as long as its not obnoxious like a motorcycle, has no check engine light and passes the emissions test.

If you find the right place you can get one, my towncar had absolutely no back brakes, and the place still gave me one.
