So here's the story on the car, about 1.5 years ago i was supposed to buy it so my girlfriend can get back to racing. We chose the paint color the car was going to be, i yanked the motor out of the 87 since i had a motor sitting there for it, and was going to rebuild the other one for the new car. After negotiating with him for a few weeks and him yo-yoing on the price he decided he was going to keep it and part it out for more money. Fast forward to june, the car was still in his buddies garage waiting for someone to buy parts from it. Finally he wanted the car gone so he could have his garage back. The owner gave me the car in return for a stereo install and brake job on his lightning. I got all the new parts he purchased along with the car as well.

New door panels, oe black interior, new weather stripping, trim parts etc etc.
Since its as much of a budget build as possible i chose all things that were dirt cheap and have done evrything on my own so far. With a total investment of around $2700 so far, i'll post pics of everything thats happened when i get home. Just remember its a budget build.

I propped the door open long enough to run to my car to get my strap-on and look who snuck in..... Hell just froze over!

The car never makes the racer, the true racer makes his car.

You must have gone to Europe for a year and taken a lesson on the roads. Worked out and trimmed the fat like the new durango.

Edit: I had asked about your other car, but see you updated your build thread.

Dedicated service is fit and lean, 2840 with driver is the new projected weight.

The other car is doing fine, and when i stop going to vegas every 3 months or so i'll probably get it running.

Lose some of that mid section and you can drop that predicted weight.

Alright so now i'm home and i'll lay down the build thus far, everything has been obtained from CL and corral through means of lowballing, yep I said lowballing, but its not lowballing if they accept.
Plan for the car is a DD capable vehicle with umph. Full interior with leather s197 seats, heat, a/c etc. This will be a all around performer street/track/drag/auto-x. It is meant for my girlfriend to have something to race without worry about ruining one of the other cars, cause in the end, its just a fox. Best part its cheap to insure and I got it for free, all work has been done by me and my lady, on occasion friends would stop by and help me with tedious stuff.

Heavily ported SVO Ford heads, purchased for $400 then ported after purchasing, not the greatest but they had less then 10k miles on them and are the ONLY smog legal head for cali, other heads have egr passages but not an EO number, cut to 58cc, bowl work, etc
Accel 44# injectors $125
Eddy RPM 5.0 with 70mm throttle body and egr spacer purchased for $140
D351 1.72 roller rockers with under 10k on them $120
1133 MLS head gaskets 2 for $95
Vortech s-trim kit minus oil lines and crank pulley $650
Vortech power cooler $400 with custom done gt500 heat exhanger
Freshly rebuilt 308 shortblock,-5cc forged pistons, stock rods/crank, block tapped for 1/2" hardware arp head/main studs, .010 deck, about 9.4:1 (built by me) $280
ACC Grind cam .566/.566 218/218 114* with 1.72 $75
Harwood 4" cowl hood $100
Newish rear bumper cover $40
Special color of blue $320 (compare to $1000 from paint store)
About $100 in paint supplies (not including new tools i felt like buying)
Lots of crap i forgot im sure so far about $300 invested, goal was 3k or less but that went out the window when i tore apart the engine and realized i had to bore and hone the block. So i'm upping it to 4k, which i think i can come in under.

Picture time

Untouched ports

Pedestal mounts converted to stud mount

Here is the **** i found in the oil pickup

Remachined the throttle body surface since some jackwaggon jb-welded the egr spacer and throttle body on

Finished shortblock

Fabbed up a gt500 heat exchanger in place of the puny vortech one, especially having a mount bracket made for a much cleaner install
Here it is compared to the vortech exchanger

Here is how i had to modify the bracket to rotate the exchanger in place and make it clear on the car

Mounted on the car

Here are all the additional parts I got with the car

Fresh gauge panel
All new weather stripping
Interior and exterior felt trim
Run channel strips
Radiator
Sn95 brake setup
Taylor battery relocation box
Dash vents
Rivet gun
Door panels
Arm rest pads
Visors
And other misc parts
