Found this post over on ModularFords and thought it might interest a few of you. As many of you know the half-shafts in the Cobra's are a weak point in the drive line. DSS came out with 2 different replacement half-shafts a few years ago (Lvl 2 & Lvl 5), but they were pretty expensive and people reported problems with them too. Appears that a collaboration between SS Chassis & Strange Engineering has produced an alternative to the stock and DSS offerings. Here are some pictures of a set which is scheduled to be installed and tested soon!

These SS/Strange halfshafts look promising - any info on the type of steel used or have they released any technical specs/info?

I wonder how they fare compared to GKN shafts....

Haven't heard any specs what-so-ever yet. I believe what we're seeing in those photos is some of the first egineering samples made for testing. I have no info on price either!

I know that GKN made the shafts for Ford which came in the 03/04 model. As far as I know though GKN doesn't make anything beefier than what came stock in the Terminator.

I'll keep my eyes and ears open and post more or updated info as I find it.

You have to admit the set in those pictures sure look pretty!

Those look mighty nice. I am upping my horsepower a fair amount for next year, either with an Aluminator or rebuilding my MKVIII motor and it will be nice to have something out back that will take the extra horses without worry.

I am surprised that halfshafts like these wern't developed years ago. A lot of Cobra drivers would have been quite happy.
