Ever since I had my clutch changed and H pipe reinstalled I have had a rattle that sounds like a loose heat shield. The noise only lasts a second and it's only during high RMP acceleration. I've changed the catback so I know it's not coming from that. The drivers side cat on the MRT H pipe is very close to the floor and I know the dealer fought with it to get it reinstalled after they changed the clutch and they even put a bunch of muffler sealer around the flange to the manifold to seal it up. I'm guessing it may be hitting the floor or maybe they bent the middle of the shield so it's touching the cat? Would heat be a problem if I remove the shield for extra clearance? Any other ideas are welcomed.
I've also noticed a slight ticking at idle now and then so I know the connection to the manifold is still leaking. Could this leak be the cause of the other noise I'm hearing? Anyone else have issues with their aftermarket mid not sealing to the manifold? I want to install shorties and a k member this winter (I know, get long tubes) shouldn’t that solve one problem? Oh, the joys of playing with exhaust piping.
