I recently installed a 2004 GT motor in my 1996 mustang but I have a bad exhaust leak. Basically I left the stock manifolds (2004) and used my UPR-X pipe (the one i used on my 96) and I noticed that the Driver side has an exhaust leak. It seems that the X-pipe flange is to big! :bang: Is there a gasket that goes in between (like a donut shape gasket)? Any solutions to my problem? Thanx

HEY MAN I AM LOOKING IN TO DOING THE ENGINE SWAP IF I CAN FIND ONE THATS NOT THAT EXPENSIVE FOR MY 96 GT. I WAS WONDERING HOW HARD WAS THE SWAP AND DID YOU HAVE TO CHANGE THE WIRING AND COMPUTER SYSTEM

When I did my 02 into a 96 gt swap I also did not change my left side exhaust manifold and had a major leak, I tried various things and they didnt seem to work finally i gave in and installed the manifold that cam with my 02 engine and never had a leak since. So that might be your best bet or get a off road pipe made for a 04.

there is NO gasket on the leftside(driverside) only on the right(pass) side

+1

The driver side should have a flanged piece and passenger side has a gasket as mentioned.

CAPS :bang:

jderheim the swap is simple and easy it should only take a weekend to do. There are only a couple of changes you need to do such as the fuel rails (needs to be swap for your old one), you need to drill and tap a new hole on the intake manifold (i have the drill and tap for sale). Plus the power you gain is very noticeable! email me at [email protected] if you need more info.
