I just put back on the upper and lower intake manifolds after finding the lower to head bolts loose. I warmed up the engine to set the idle and initial timing. I did the KOEO with a code 11 and went to do a KOER and the car revved to 2500 which seemed high. I looked down and noticed that both exhaust manifolds were glowing bright red. I have never seen this before so I turned the car off to cool. I was wondering if this is normal.

If it still has factory cats they could be clogged.

More than likely, your timing is severely retarded. Make sure your distributor is stabbed properly and set the timing accordingly.

i agree with the above as well. your combustion is finishing out through the exhaust valves which is more than likey your timing being retarded. it might be at 8 or lower.

Could have a bad vacuum leak causing the car to go lean. If it was rich, then the cats would be glowing red. Means you are having high EGT's. High EGT's mean Lean.... Low EGT's mean Rich....

I sat my initial base timing to 14 which is what is was before taking the intake off. I am guessing I set my TDC correctly or the car would not start at all. After setting the idle I went to take the car around the corner. When I pulled out the brakes took all I had to stop and the car started running horrible so I pulled back in and started to run the KOEO and KOER test. When I put the car KOER and car revved to 2500 to do the test usually it is around 1500 which I though was weird that is when I looked and saw the manifolds. I will check both the timing and for vaccum leaks.

I just replaced the line with a silicone one but I heard the grommet around the line goes out.
