exhaust pipe size

ust wondering what the factory piping size is on the V6 exhaust. Either 2 1/4 or 2 1/2. Looking at putting an O/R X-pipe on and its 2 1/2 piping.

? Don't know. Might be 2 1/4 or maybe smaller since an aftermarket piping is 2 1/2.

I'm pretty sure it is 2.25". Stock GT systems are 2.25" and we use the same mufflers as them, but just one.

Will a 2.5" pipe bolt up without problem or will I get a leak? If it is 2.25", where can I find an X-pipe that would fit, even MAC's site only has 2.5 now.

The stock exhaust is 2 1/4". Mustang Tuning sells a complete 2 1/4" midpipe (catted or O/R) now for the 96-04 V6 that will work with a GT takeoff catback: http://mustangtuning.com/exforv6mu.html

I personally would stay with a 2 1/4" exhaust to keep your bottom end torque intact.

Thanks for the link. I was hoping to saty with the sam pipe size, but it's hard to find the 2 1/4" now days.

Yes, is it stock 2.25. If you are just changing the hpipe and catback go with 2.5".

You will not get any major gains if you stay with the 2.25.

I believe the Y-pipe systme I got from MAC about 2 years ago was 2.25 all the way. That is why I was hoping to find a 2.25 mid pipe.
