how much difference is there in power between say a magnaflow catback system, and just welding in some magnaflow mufflers(what i have done)??

i'm wanting to redo my exhaust with longtubes and new midpipe and need to decide if i should get a catback system or use that money towards other stuff.

Depending on your area for what you will be spending a new set
of mufflers and a mechanic/exhaust shop to cut the old mufflers
off and weld the new mufflers on you might as we'll just buy the
whole catback.I just got a Magnaflow Magnapack catback one
week ago belive me it's worth it. Magnaflow=Quality

i've already got an offroad Hpipe and weld in magnaflow muffers. i'm wondering if i would see any increase in power by going to a full cat back

Going with the larger diameter of piping 21/2"
with 31/2" tips your exhaust will have less backpressure and will
let your engine breath easier. The difference will probably be 1 or 2
rwhp from your weld in's.In my opnion the Magnaflow tips are alot nicer
than the tips on the stock catback.

Also by changing the tips it will a little better.

I think the hp increase would be VERY small

How could the hp gain be zero with a larger diameter c/b. Wouldn't that mean more free flowing air exiting the motor? which could result in a very small gain

And yes the a larger set of tips with change the exhaust tone.

if you take away too much back pressure your car goes slower.....

Exhaust tips have minimal effect on anything other than sound. And even then its debatable.

Doesn't make a difference in sound either.

All in your head. You have a screw loose, or perhaps 79 of them.

IMO on a mildly modified car 2 1/2 pipe is kind of a trade off. It moves the power band a bit. more peak hp but proabably a little less low end.

the more mods you add the more the 2 1/2 pipe will help. If no heads, cams, and or blower is in your future I would spend the money elsewhere.
