Since you guys are mods experts, I'm taking out my stock exhaust and putting a MAC exhaust on a 2001 GT. Will I get a check engine light or need MILS?
The cat converters and H-pipes will remain stock.
Or will the check engine light come on if I change out the cat/h-pipes.

Please advise.
thanks.....

Mac makes good sounding products, but their quality is something to be desired. Depends on what sound you are looking for. Deep and rumbly or loud and raspy.
Certain catback systems compliments hpipes and xpipes differently. I think a Mac catback sounds better with an Hpipe as opposed to a Xpipe. Although I have heard some wicked sounding Mac Catbacks when coupled with either a UPR Xpipe or a Dr.Gas Xpipe....

Then you have to think ahead if you want LT headers or get some shorties. But i don't think too many LTs will pass emissions.....:bang: . But if you don't have to pass emissions, then i say LTs and an O/R midpipe...:nice:

all good feed back guys.
thanks for gettion back to me.
cool beans.

however i'm down to mac & magnaflow. can't decide.
i'm looking for deep-throaty, head turning sound.
what do you recommend?

so MAC's are poor quality??
YES!
I had a Mac catback before it was the worst quality catback I ever
seen in my life. After one year of having it both the pipes that hang
out the axle were rusted and the chrome that was on the ends of
both tips were starting to crack and flake away day by day. :nonono:
I highly subjest the Magnaflow Magnapack catback exhaust because
it's stainless steel and the tips are of great quality. Also it sounds just
awesome in my opnion.Good luck with whatever you go with. :nice:

Mac makes a stainless steal version of there catback and I have it, no problems, will not rust and fit with out a problem, I would classify it as a quality cat back. At 2:00 today I get to pick up my car from the garage with a new MRT-H installed. I will let you know how the fitment went pared up with the mac catback. If you want that low rumble then mac is what you want and believe me it turns heads even with the stock H.
