when my exhaust was repositioned after the trans swap, it didnt back up just right. now the tailpipes rub the gas tank cover :notnice: and its making a squeaking noise ( simliar to that of two pieces of styrofoam rubbed together, very annoying ). it rubs on both sides but only squeaks on the passenger side. does it worse when the pipes get hot. i can take my foot and push on the tailpipe away from the car, toward the tire and it goes away. any ideas what i can do instead of making a trip to the muffler shop?

how come you dont want to take it to a muffler shop? Mine started to make those ANNOYING squeaks/rattles too so i took it to it to them and they charged me like 20bucks to tighten everything up. I think thats well worth it and saved myself a headache

The only thing I can think of is to get under there, loosen up the clamps, twist the pipes away from the tank as far as possible, then tighten them back up. That may do the trick?

i do appreciate the suggestion but all my exhaust is custom. no clamps, all welded :( . i can unbolt the x pipe from the flowtubes but i dont think its going to give me any play to move the pipes

well, thats what needs to be done. there is only one muffler shop in town that i trust to do custom work, which is the shop that done my initial setup. with the spintech mufflers, they have to be angled so the tailpipes come out straight. i called and the cheapest i will get out is $75. thats cutting and rewelding. he's high but he does super clean work. plus he's so hard to get a appointment with :notnice: . i was just tryin to save myself a hassle and money.

can i borrow $75? :D
