Ok everybody, I am looking for opinions on a new cat back system for my '87 LX. I am considering re-doing my exhaust myself, as the intermediate pipe between the passenger side muffler and the h-pipe is totally rotted out. Back in the day, I used to always run glass-packs on my vehicles (yes, they were Chevy 350's) and I loved that sound. I can't recall if I have ever herd them on a 5.0 though, even with stock headers and a no catted H (like my setup). Ideas? Thoughts? Any input would be appreciated.

I've got a 2.5" O/R h-pipe, 2.5" flow tubes, Dynomax SuperTurbo mufflers and 2.5" SS tailpipes out the back. Looks stock, little bit louder than stock, and gets even louder if you romp on it.

Guess I'm getting old...

Yeah, my buddy put longtubes, o/r x pipe, and mac cat backs on his '05. With some mother thumper cams, that thing sounds awesome. Anyone work with glass packs though?

I won't bash your likes or dislikes as what you like is what you should buy, however I would skip the glass pack/cherry bomb idea. They flow horrible and just won't be a good fit for a Mustang. Consider YouTube videos to compare sounds. My friend has a Pypes system that sounds very much like a vintage glass pack setup, but looks nicer (stainless) and flows much better. Not the sound I like but I would compare it to the sound you are looking for without the restriction of a Cherry Bomb.
