I've been driving my son's stang to work this week while he's out of the country. I've noticed the car seems to buzz or vibrate at certain lower RPM's when accelerating slowly, it appears to be coming from the exhaust. I thought I had read somewhere before there was a SSM from Ford covering this very problem? Anyone know if this is the case, and if so what is the specific SSM which covers this problem?

TIA

Yea there is something about an exhaust hanger or something not being solidly mounted. I don't think its dangerous, just annoying.

I am also assuming his car is stock.

Wait until he goes full duals...

How's this for vibration?

Good pages, sure enough.

I took mine in with the 06-4-1 complaint (V6 with a buzz from the "center stack" at 850 and 1600 rpm). The mechanic said it wasn't the loose whatsis, but that the exhaust system was misaligned. He straightened it out and replaced a missing bolt, and it's been perfect since.

Thanks for SSM link!

His car is completely bone stock and the only way it will ever get modded is if I do it myself for him. My son is just not into performance unless it can be measured in Mhz, Ghz, pixel fill rates, or polygon counts.

The vibration happens at varrying RPM's from 850 on up to about 1350, it actually comes in sort of waves. It's very noticeable when accelerating slowly.

I guess I'll take it in and have them check it out and see if it can be fixed under SSM 05-8-6.
