I think I am one of the last 2005 GT's out there with stock exhaust still but I would like to know if anyone has the new offerings from Roush, Cherry Bomb, or Flowtech. I am going to putting BBK full length headers and catless X-pipe up front and would like to know which one would have the best effect on a F/I car with the least drone? Any help would be great, thanks in advance guys/gals

Cherry Bomb now that's a name I hadn't heard in forever and a day. Brings back memories of my first car which was an 88 5.0LX to which I took a hacksaw and clamped in some CB galsspacks. Talk about drone. You couldn't hear yourself think from 2100 to 3800 RPM.

In hind sight that was retarded but when you're 15...

with changing clutches, trans (tr6060) I had a set of glasspacks laying around... rather than fight the axel backs, I just clamped em on the the end of Bassani X pipe:eek:

They are STILL THERE! These cars sound good... much better than with Magnaflow mufflers, magnapacks, flowmasers, ....

I dont have a clip b/c Im rebuildiing my TR6060 as of now:notnice:...

throw on a pair you have lieing around in the shop, you'll be surprised; I know I was.

HAHA Ahh, that brings back memories......

Drone was a concern for me when I was looking for an axelback. I like the sound of chambered designs, but traditionally they tend to drone. The straight through designs seemed to lack the musclecar tone. But from what I've learned with the 05+ GT's, they all sound great but all pack the drone, some more some less. Resonators will limit drone, but they in turn quiet the car which puts you back at square one, a quiet exhaust. I wanted a loud idle, low drone at cruise, but to scream at higher RPM. Corsa's seem to be they best of the 3 perameters but they come at a 600+ price. For the price (276.00), I settled on the Pacifica Performance/Mac boomtubes and couldn't be happier. There's a thread on the Boomtubes somewhere on here where someone put some extra carpet or some kind of insulation on specific parts of the underbody and didn't notice a bit of drone.

 My great story here was a '71 Mustang Convertible with a 351C. I got the great idea to put long tube headers, X pipe, 18" glass packs and just for that added "why in the hell factor" I turned it out right in front of the rear wheels. It was the coolest at 16, not so much now though, lol.

I think I will just put my BBK long tubes and matching X pipe on and see where that puts me with the exhaust note and volume. Thanks for the advice guys!:hail2:

I've run the Cherry Bombs...

The IMCO "Cherry Bomb" mufflers for these cars are chambered. Both the "Pro Series" and "Extreme Series". I purchased the Cherry Bomb "Pro" series. They sounded awesome outside the car but there was too much drone at cruising speed. Nothing like the MACs which I also had. But, I have an automatic and wasn't able to shift out of the rpm band where the drone was.
