I need to find out if the two top edges on a 66 front fender are supposed to be level or if the outer edge is lower, if by how much.

The pic shows the outer edge on my car is 1/4' lower than the inner edge. (my RH fender outer edge is 1/16" lower)

The measurements are taken approx 10" back from the front of the guard in line with the hood rubber stoppers.

Can anyone tell me what the exact origional spec is? I want to set my panels right.

tks for any (informed) response.

Marshall

Just checked my 66. Used a level mid fender even with the shock. Both were a "strong" 1/4 in. One owner car. Fenders have never been off, never been in a wreck. Yours look right in the picture.

A tad bit of "expert advise".... In the future, please try to post your problem is the tittle instead of saying you need expert advise.....

True----Since I'm not an expert in much of anything, I almost didn't read the thread. Just happened I have a car that let me answer this one.

I accept your point HWYMAN, thanks for making it.
Should I repost it? I would like a few more opinions or better still, the precise factory specs.

Marshall--- you could re-post, but I think your fenders are right. They fit exactly like mine and mine have never been touched since leaving the factory. I think if the top rear edge lines up with the cowl, the front with the headlight bucket, and the side with the door, they can't be wrong. But since I've never taken them off and tried to put them back on, that's just my opinion. I could probably get a picture or two of the level sitting on the fender if you need it.

Thanks Hwyman, I think I will repost, not at all to doubt you are right but to confirm with a few others. Then we can all be 100% sure.
